Matt found out this week that he was accepted into graduate school!! He will be working on his MLS (Masters in Library Science)! We are super proud of him! He will start this summer with a 10 day stint down state at the college, where he will get acquainted with the program, and also attend his first class. After that he will start up in the fall and will mostly be attending class through the inter webs which will be very nice!

Spring Break
The kids are on spring break this week, we really didn't have anything big planned so yesterday Matt took a personal day and we headed to the mall to go to Build A Bear since Ava hasn't stopped talking about it since the last time we went (plus Mom had a coupon).
Ava decided to make a Miss Piggy who is also a puppet which was cool and Logan picked out a wiener dog to go with his German Shepard he made last time (he named it Hotdog of course). The kids had fun stuffing and giving their new friends a bath. They also got free Build A Bear egg dying kits which was cool, now I don't have to worry about picking up egg dying stuff and they also come with stuff to decorate the eggs like Build A Bear animals...cute!
Then we headed to the Rainforest Cafe for lunch, we got right in which was nice. Ava LOVED it, especially the big butterflies with moving wings. They both liked all the fish tanks, Logan freaked out a little when the lights went down and the "thunderstorm" started and he wasn't a fan of the big moving monkey's. Ava on the other hand loved the big gorilla and was pounding her chest to be just like him. Both kids had a a mini pizza and all in all a good time was had.
As much as I hate the big play area at the mall (oh God the germs...) we headed over there and the kids ran around like crazy people for an hour while Matt and I got to sit next to each other and talk which was nice!
We then headed over to the Easter Bunny, which we also walked right up to, no lines makes Mommy and Daddy happy. Since there was no line we got to spend a little time with the bunny. Ava liked him, waved at him, said Hi, went up and got her little treat from him, but when it was picture time she declined a seat on his lap, or bench, or just standing there with Daddy. Logan on the other hand took a great picture with the Easter Bunny (I haven't gotten a picture of him and the Easter Bunny since he was 6 months old!). Maybe next year I will get both of them...a Mom can dream.
It was a long and exhausting day, but we had fun!

Logan Got In!
We found out this week that Logan got into the year round school! We also found out that his best buddy is also going to that school and some other friends from his class. We are very excited and happy to have him attending the best school in the district and if we are still living here for some reason (I doubt it) he will be at this school all the way through 8th grade! Very excited, can't believe our first baby is heading off to Kindy in the fall. He starts August 6th! We get to meet his teacher April 30th at the Kindergarten open house!

Parent-Teacher Conference
We had our second parent-teacher conference with Logan's teacher last week. We got an excellent report from her and she says Logan is just a really great kid, a pleasure to have in class. He is excelling at math and starting to read which she was very impressed with. He has improved vastly with his cutting and she said he has really good hand writing for his age and gender. His report from his gym teacher shows he can do everything he should be doing for his age, which was no surprise given his gymnastics.
She asked where he was going to Kindergarten next year, she likes to make a list so the kids can see what other kids will be going to the same school. We have decided to try and get Logan into the year round school option our district has. It's over all the best school in the district, has smaller class sizes, better funding and there have been many studies that show students do better with the year-round schedule and retaining knowledge. We talked to parents and former students of the school as well and that is what really sold it for us. This school is not a charter school or anything like that, it's a public school of choice. It is also different in that it is K-8 where all the other elementary schools in the district are K-5. However, we don't plan on still living in the area by the time he would reach that grade level. He would go to school 9-10 weeks and then have 3 weeks off.
Unfortunately, we don't know yet if he will get accepted. Last year was the first year they had to do a lottery to get into the school. They only take 50 kids each year. When we were there registering him they already had 40 and that included 9 siblings who automatically get in, so we are expecting another lottery this year. So we will hear hopefully by the second week in March. If he doesn't get in he will go to the same school Brandi went for K and 1st, also a good school, but we have our fingers crossed that our first choice pans out!

Logan Lost A Tooth!
Logan lost his first baby tooth Sunday night right before bedtime! He had been wiggling it like crazy like the dentist told him to do and it finally came out! He put it in his tooth treasure chest the dentist gave him and then tucked it into his tooth pillow, a gift from Aunt Jackie when he was just a wee one. Of course the Tooth Fairy made a stop at our house and left the lucky little boy a new Hot Wheel car under his pillow. Logan was a little upset that the tooth was gone, so we decided that next time we will write the Tooth Fairy a letter and to see if he can keep it...
