3D/4D Ultrasound Pictures!

We had our 3D/4D ultrasound done this morning, it was my birthday present from Matt and we got some great shots of our new little one! Baby has had the umbilical cord in front of it pretty much every time we have had an ultrasound, baby really likes to play with it. We saw baby grabbing the cord, sucking on it's hand, frowning, smiling, yawning and we got to listen to the heartbeat something we haven't gotten to do since 18 weeks. It was so much fun, I am so glad that we did it again. When we did our 3D ultrasound with Logan he was pretty much sleeping through the whole thing, and we didn't do the longer session with him so we just got facial shots with him so we had fun watching this baby yawn and play with it's cord. As if the ultrasound couldn't get any better, baby was head down today!!!! If you remember at our appointment on Monday baby was breech during the ultrasound, so this was wonderful news for our VBAC attempt, now we just have to keep baby head down for the next 10 weeks give or take haha. We got 40 shots and 2 movie clips of the ultrasound, so take a look at our next bundle!

Baby is on the left, mouth, nose and hand kinda in front of face

Feet!

Sucking on it's hand

Making a frown face

Giving us a smile!

Showing off those cheeks!
Any new gender guesses now that we have some better pictures to go off of???

28 Week Update

We had our 28 weeks OB appointment and our follow up ultrasound to check on the baby's brain ventricles. We are happy to report that all is totally normal with the ventricles, whew what a relief! Baby is measuring at 3lbs 3oz and growth is spot on! Of course since it's one of our kids we have a new challenge which is in the past month the baby has flipped to the breech position, which is not going to jive with our VBAC plans. I have some exercises to do to try and get the baby back to head down, if the baby stays breech in the coming weeks, our doctor will discuss doing a version where they try and turn the baby from the outside, but there are some risks involved with that so worse comes to worse baby will be here a little earlier than expected with a repeat c-section. Of course this is the last thing I wanted to have happen so just thinking positive and doing my exercises and hoping for the best. We didn't get any good pictures of the baby today, but we have our 3d/4d ultrasound this weekend so hopefully the stinker will get into a better position for us. Oh and the ultrasound tech said it still looks like the same gender she told us last time.

So far the guesses are:
Mom-Girl
Katie-Boy
Grandma Blume-Girl
Matt's Mom-Boy
Cousin Kelly-Girl
Kim-Girl
Anyone else think they know?

Baby Update

Just a quick update on the baby front. Around the time of my last appointment, I did my GTT test (Glucose Tolerance Test) to test for Gestational Diabetes and am happy to say that I passed. Since I have diabetes in my family I am at higher risk to get it when pregnant so I am always glad to hear that I passed. When they do the GTT test they also take blood to check for Anemia. Unfortunately, I didn't pass that test, my hemoglobin is low and I am now on an extra Iron supplement in addition to my pre-natals. They want to see that number go up, being anemic is making me very tired, but otherwise I feel ok, but it can cause problems for the baby and at the time of delivery because of blood loss, so hopefully these supplements will do the trick and next time they check I will be ok.

Diaper Shower Pictures (finally)

I am finally getting around to posting about the diaper shower that was given to me by my wonderful husband back in June. For those that don't know, a diaper shower is usually given for second or subsequent pregnancies instead of a traditional shower. The Mommy-to-be receives diapers (which everyone needs no matter how long ago your last shower was) and of course there are variations of the diaper shower, a friend of mine from grad school had a board book & wine shower where everyone brought a board book for the baby and a bottle of wine for the Mom-to-be! It was so nice to have the shower and really celebrate this baby, up until that point both Matt and I hadn't really relaxed about the pregnancy or really enjoyed it, we still feel very guarded given what we went through last summer and in the beginning of this pregnancy. So the shower was a wonderful way to celebrate this baby. It was a small affair just the immediate family, Great-Grandmas, Grandma's and Aunt's and cousins and sister. Matt did a lot of work and I helped him with some shower ideas since the poor man really didn't know what he was getting into. I had a really fun time and everyone that was there said they had a lot of fun too. We had two games that were diaper themed and we did onesie decorating (and I keep getting compliments about how cute they turned out) and lunch, cake and opened some presents. I got a big surprise from Matt, my Mom and Matt's Mom, they all went in together and got the double stroller I had my eye on. It was such a nice surprise. I got lot's of diapers and we are pretty well stocked for baby's arrival and I also received some other goodies which was also a nice surprise. All in all it was a very fun day and it will always be a special part of this pregnancy.

A big thank you to our family for coming out to celebrate this pregnancy and this baby. It's been a long road to get here but we are nearing the end now and I am glad we took a day out to celebrate!
